Professor Hiroshi Ezura and Assistant Professor Satoko Nonaka’s group has received 21 Century Encouragement of Invention Prize, and University President Nobuhiro Yamada has received 21 Century Contribution of Invention Prize.


Professor Hiroshi Ezura(Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences of Tsukuba,Gene Research Center),Assistant Professor Satoko Nonaka (same) and Research Scientist Masayuki Sugawara (graduate course of Biotechnology‚ Minnesota State University)’s group was awarded with 21 Century Encouragement of Invention Prize at the Japan Institute of Invention ‘s National Commendation for Invention 2011 held in Hotel Okura (Tokyo) on June 20th, 2011

This prize is awarded to the invention that has displayed outstanding technological development and also is within 3 years since its patent has been registered. “Development of ‘SUPER-AGROBACTERIUM’ for the establishment of reliable and efficient genetic transformation techniques in plants (Patent Number 4534034)” that was invented by Professor Ezura’s group allows transformation type construction of new useful plants to easily occur and was recognized for its future contribution for the development such as, of new energy plants’ transformation technology.

Also, along with this prize, President University of Tsukuba, Nobuhiro Yamada has received 21 Century Contribution of Invention Prize.
